The short answer on the label is 500 mg, twice daily. This page covers the fuller picture: what that looks like in practice, why that range is typical across the category, and what to do if you are just starting out.
The standard serving
500 mg, taken twice daily, is the recommended serving on our label and a common standard across the shilajit category more broadly. In practice, 500 mg is roughly a rice-grain-sized portion of resin, taken with a clean, dry utensil. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.
Starting out: is less better at first?
If you have never taken shilajit before, there is nothing wrong with starting at the lower end of a serving and building up to the full recommended amount over the first few days, simply to see how it sits with you, the same sensible approach you would take with any new food supplement. This is a comfort preference, not a dosing requirement grounded in specific research; the label serving is the one we have tested and stand behind.
How to actually take a serving
Take it directly from the jar, or stir it into a warm drink, coffee, tea or warm water, until it dissolves. Pure works well in coffee, where its earthy, mineral taste is much less noticeable. Orange and Strawberry, naturally flavoured, are easy in tea or warm water. It should not be mixed into anything boiling; warm rather than hot is enough to dissolve it.
Timing
Twice daily, generally spaced through the day rather than taken as one double portion at once, is the standard pattern behind the 500 mg twice-daily serving. Beyond that, there is no specific research pinning down an ideal time of day; take it at whatever times you will actually remember consistently.
What not to do
- Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. More is not a shortcut to a stronger effect, and taking more than the tested serving is outside the dose the certificate of analysis and safety screening actually cover.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- If you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medication, ask your doctor first, before starting any serving, small or standard.
A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied diet. For the fuller safety picture beyond dosage, see our guide on is shilajit safe.
